For many people, their knowledge of Christ extends no further than nativity scenes and popular carols, like “Silent Night” and “Away in a Manger.” For them, Jesus only exists as a perpetual infant—one they briefly revisit every Christmas season, only to shunt Him back out of mind for the rest of the year.
We can understand why the world is so apt to overlook the rest of Christ’s incarnation at Christmas. But are we, as God’s people, any better? Are we faithfully contemplating and celebrating the Lord in His fullness? Or are we, like the world, too caught up in the seasonal festivities to consider the rest of the story when it comes to Christ’s birth?
We recently asked John MacArthur what it means to celebrate Christ in His fullness at Christmas. What are the vital truths about Christ that deepen our love for Him and fuel our witness of His gospel? Here’s what John said:
Christmas should be a season marked by the fervent witness of God’s people to an unbelieving world. We are called to complete the story that this lost world only knows in part.
