Wildfire Update
Thursday, January 16, 2025
Many Grace to You listeners, as well as radio partners and other friends of the ministry, have contacted us expressing concern about the wildfires burning in Southern California.
The Hurst fire—the fire nearest our facilities in Valencia—was about twelve miles away. As of today, it is described as completely contained. The winds have generally been working in our favor in the Santa Clarita Valley, but a new fire upwind could certainly change things.
Our staff families are well. A few team members were forced to stay home last week due to road closures or the threat of evacuation. But everyone is safe and on alert.
The strong winds, which drive the fires and complicate fighting them, were astonishing last week. From our offices we saw various aircraft shuttling to and from a nearby airport to reload with retardant. Sadly, multiple member families of Grace Community Church (where John MacArthur serves as pastor, with its campus located closer to the fires) lost their homes. As you have seen in news footage, the devastation is extreme. Our congregation has been activated to help meet immediate needs related to the fires.
God is gracious; we continue to trust and find rest in Him. Thanks for your care and concern. Please do continue praying.
